Tradition is broken in this year’s musical, Fiddler on the Roof. In the predominantly Jewish community of Anatevka, Ukraine, it is unheard of to go against the cultural traditions and values of the community.

Reb Tevye (Max Cohen), a poor milkman, married to wife Golde (Samantha Rizzo), fall into anguish when three of his five daughters, Tzeitel (Kara Vito), Hodel (Julia Tucker), Chava (Lily Mata), Shprintze (Caroline Ridings), and Bielke (Madelyn Colonna) and fall in love without having their pairings decided by the town matchmaker, Yente (Mikayla Layng).

“I have always wanted to play a feminine role such as Yente; I am excited to see what is to come,” says senior Mikayla Layng.

As tradition is called into question within the community, anti-Jewish sentiments from Christian persecutors now threaten the livelihood not only of Tevye and his family, but the community as a whole.

Will the daughters uphold the practices of their town’s traditions? Will Tevye and the town fight against those who are trying to overrun Anatevka? They only way to find out is to come see for yourselves!
