Bruno Mars left fans all over the world speechless just five days into 2026. After a 10-year-long hiatus from releasing solo music, Mars announced on Monday, Jan. 5 that he had completed his album. The following Wednesday, Mars announced via Instagram that new music would be released Friday, Jan. 9, and his upcoming album, The Romantic, would be coming out Friday, Feb. 27. The last major solo studio project released by Mars came out in 2016, so it is safe to say many fans were more than happy to hear the news of his release. Junior Mikayla Torres remarked, “I was so excited when I saw the Instagram post on my feed. I love Bruno Mars, so hearing that he is creating another album after such a long gap from making solo music made me really happy. I immediately went to sign up for presale access.”
During the period Mars did not release solo music, he collaborated with other artists, such as Anderson .Paak. The duo performed under the name “Silk Sonic”, together releasing an album in 2021, and winning not one, but four Grammy Awards in 2022. Mars also released singles with Lady Gaga and Rosé, and won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards with Lady Gaga for their song, “Die with a Smile.”
Before the track names were released, Mars announced the tour dates, which filled fans with a sense of determination to acquire tickets via TicketMaster, where presales are notoriously known for being difficult. Superfan and senior Gianna Marafioti commented, “I’ve been a fan of Mars since I was around 5-6 years old, and I discovered his music while listening to the radio on the way to gymnastics practices. To ensure that I would get tickets, I immediately signed up for presale. The day of the presale… I logged into TicketMaster at around 11:00 a.m., and by 12:30 p.m. I had secured tickets, facing no difficulties at all!” Mars will be performing four shows at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in August. Originally, Mars was set to perform just two shows at Metlife Stadium, but due to incredible demand, a third and fourth show were added to The Romantic Tour.
The lead single “I Just Might” is the only track that was released prior to the album. This abrupt drop left fans with anticipation for yet another amazing album created by Mars, who some believe to be one of the most influential artists of his generation. After just listening to it once while driving with friends, junior Emma Murphy shared, “I love this song, and I can just tell it’s going to be stuck in my head.” With the first song of the album debuting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, fans anticipated an elite composition of music in the new album.
