Throughout the 2025 season, many thrilling movies were released across a variety of genres that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Some films impressed audiences so much, they wanted to rewatch them, while some others left viewers disappointed. These are the top-10 movies of 2025 that will not disappoint viewers.

1.     Frankenstein: Starting off strong is Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo del Toro. This film is about a brilliant scientist, Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac) who creates and brings a monstrous creature (Jacob Elordi) to life. The creature, created in a daring experiment, leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.The original Frankenstein was an award-winning novel written by Mary Shelly in 1818. The novel and various film adaptations have been favorites of many and continue to remain popular as time goes on.
2.     Regretting You: Regretting You is a new romantic drama based on the novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover. This movie follows a teenage girl, Clara Grant (Mckenna Grace) after a devastating accident reveals shocking truths and betrayals within her family. Clara and her mother, Morgan Grant (Allison William), explore what is left behind as they confront family secrets, redefine love, and rediscover their relationship. The film has become increasingly popular due to the intense chemistry between Mason Thames, who plays Miller Adams, and Mckenna Grace. Sophomore Slone Coble said, “I thought it was a cute movie. It wasn’t as sad as everyone said it was going to be. It could’ve gone into more detail about certain things, but overall, it was a good movie, and I would definitely watch it again!” 
3.     I Know What You Did Last Summer: A thrilling, spine-chilling story, I Know What You Did Last Summer is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The film follows a group of friends who were involved in a gruesome accident in the past and are now being terrorized by a stalker seeking revenge. They are haunted and killed one by one by an anonymous attacker as they try to figure out who could be after them. This movie is a sequel to the 1997 film and stars Madelyn Cline, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Tyriq Withers.
4.   Weapons: A movie that leaves viewers shocked and horrified, Weapons, directed by Zach Creggar, is a spine-chilling thriller with plot twists. The story begins when all but one child from the same classroom mysteriously vanishes on the same night at exactly the same time. The residents of Maybrook are left questioning who or what is behind the disappearances. This is the perfect horror movie to watch with friends.
5.     A Minecraft Movie: The perfect comedy for kids and adults alike, A Minecraft Movie is directed by Jared Hess. Released in April 2025, the film follows characters who enter a mysterious portal that leads to the Overworld, a bizarre, cubic wonderland fueled on imagination. To get back home, they must master the difficult terrain and embark on a magical quest with an unexpected crafter named Steve (Jack Black). Other celebrities star in this movie such as Jason Momoa, who plays Garett Garriso; Emma Myers, who plays Natalie; and Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Marlene. This movie is ideal for parents who want to watch a funny, appropriate film with their kids. 
6.     The Map That Leads to You: Another recent romantic drama, The Map That Leads to You is directed by Lasse Hallstrom. Heather Mulgrew (Madelyn Cline) embarks on a European adventure that takes an unexpected turn when she meets Jack (KJ Apa). Their encounter opens up new possibilities neither anticipated. Their unexpected romance leads them to personal discoveries and tests their relationship. This movie is ideal for fans of feel-good romance. 
7.     Freakier Friday: A fantasy comedy directed by Nisha Ganatra and starring Lindsay Lohan, Freekier Friday centers on a body swap that occurs among three generations of women in a blended family. The experience forces each generation to understand one another’s life and find a way to reverse the swap before it affects the next generation. Sophomore Grace Smith expressed, “I loved this movie! I watched it with my friends, and they also loved it. It was a funny movie, and I would definitely watch it again.”
8.     My Fault: London: An unexpected love story, My Fault: London is directed by Charlotte Fassler and Dani Girdwood. The film follows an 18-year-old girl named Noah (Asha Banks) who moves from America to London with her mother and into the home of her wealthy stepfather. She meets her stepbrother, Nick (Matthew Broome), and an unexpected attraction develops between them despite their efforts to ignore it. Meanwhile, her estranged father tracks Noah and her mother down after being released from prison. My Fault: London is a sequel, and the next film, Your Fault: London, is scheduled for release in 2026.
9.     My Oxford Year: My Oxford Year, directed by Lian Morris, tells the story of an ambitious American student, Anna De La Vega (Sofia Carson), who travels to Oxford to pursue her dream of a political career. During her trip, she meets a charming local, Jamie Davenport (Corey Mylchreest), who changes both of their lives.
10. The Woman in Cabin 10: A plot-twisting mystery, The Woman in Cabin 10 is directed by Simon Stone. The story follows journalist Laura Blacklock (Keira Knightley), who boards a lavish yacht for an assignment and witnesses a woman go overboard. The ship’s crew and passengers deny that anything is wrong, and no one believes Blacklock. Determined to uncover the truth, Blacklock risks her life to find out what happened.
