As the warm, blissful summer air transitions to a chilly autumn breeze, cool weather styles and trends tag along with it. This year, many new trends are being seen from head to toe.
When shopping for back-to-school clothes, junior Olivia Ramirez explained, “I mainly shopped at Abercrombie and PacSun because I love [their] jeans and cute clothes.” Due to the unpredictable weather, succeeding in creating a perfect outfit for this season should consist of these layers: pants, a short-sleeve top, and a sweater.
This year, Adidas Campus sneakers have marked their entrance into almost every teenager’s wardrobe due to their comfortability, versatileness, and chic look. Sophomore Emily Ciaccio remarked, “Campus sneakers are my favorite; they are really comfortable and match with a lot of outfits. A good part about them is that I can dress them down and up, and they also come in many colors.”
Junior Keira Jackman expressed her opinion on a few of the most popular stores this fall: “Edikted, Brandy Melville, and Garage [are my picks] because they always have good, different styles of clothing and are super comfortable.” Edikted is a relatively new store that is booming amongst teenagers, and it recently opened a location in Roosevelt Field Mall this past summer. There, shoppers can find just about anything, ranging from sweaters, jeans, skirts, dresses, and accessories. In addition, Garage is a modern store that typically implements minimalistic styles; although on the pricier side, it does offer frequent sales.
Aside from clothing, accessories can make or break an outfit. Jackman continued, “Claw clips, bows, and Uggs are perfect for fall outfits.” This fall, bows are trending all over social media. With their stylish look and uniqueness, they are a great upgrade to an outfit. Bows can make just about any outfit more cheerful; they are often incorporated into ponytails, braids, or half-up half-down hairstyles. They are also commonly seen patterns on clothing. Additionally, jewelry is a main factor in most people’s everyday outfits; today, people wear lots of jewelry on a daily basis, which gives any attire a bigger personality. Ramirez added, “I love having jewelry, especially rings, with an outfit to make it stand out a little bit more. Some accessories that I think really make a fall outfit are having hand bags, belts for an extra touch, and layering clothes with jackets or cardigans to add more detail.”
Outfits aside, hair is a factor most teenagers are considering changing. Currently, it is very popular to dye or highlight hair. Incorporating blonde streaks is a common look. “I think dark red and pink are the best colors to dye your hair for the fall season,” said freshman Gabriella Matthews.
Overall, autumn is a favorite season among many. Along with refreshing weather, the holidays, and seasonal activities, fun and new outfits also arrive to make the time more festive. Ramirez explained, “I think everyone should have a pair of baggy jeans that they love because they can wear [them] both worn down and dressed up.” Choosing a stylish and comfortable outfit for this upcoming season cannot be complete without layers, and of course, accessories.
