Seniors Cooper Cordes and Addison DiFiore were honored to be crowned this year’s Homecoming king and queen. Get to know them below!
Q: What are some ways you have contributed to the Lynbrook Community?
Cordes: I have contributed to the Lynbrook community in many positive ways. Specifically, I am the president of Key Club and Student Government Association (SGA), and both of those clubs are built off community service. In those clubs I have volunteered/organized at events like Oktoberfest, community car washes, and Kindergarten Center Family Fun Night
DiFiore: I am a three-sport varsity athlete and an active member of around 10 clubs at LHS, holding leadership positions in six of them. I also love giving back through volunteering. Whether it’s helping at sports clinics, at community events, or on service projects, I always try to stay involved and support the Lynbrook community.
Q: What has been your favorite part of your LHS experience?
Cordes: My favorite part of my LHS experience was developing a bond with many of our great teachers and fellow students. I believe relationship building is a key to having a successful life, and I believe that during my high school years, I’ve made a strong effort to get to know my teachers and peers.
DiFiore: My favorite part of LHS has been the people. I’ve met some of the most genuine, supportive, and inspiring friends here. It truly matters what people you choose to surround yourself with. The connections I’ve made and the community I’ve found are what make LHS feel like home to me.
Q: What was your first reaction to being crowned Homecoming king/queen?
Cordes: My first reaction was of course and excitement! I was very honored to be nominated in the first place, and I was even more grateful to be honored with so many great students. Hearing my name called as king was a great feeling.
DiFiore: Honestly, I was so surprised! Every girl on the court was incredible and truly deserved to be there. It was such an honor just to be part of that group, and I would’ve been happy with any outcome.
Q: What message would you like to give underclassmen as you experience your last Homecoming?
Cordes: As I experience my last homecoming, I advise younger students to just be kind. I know it’s not the “cool” thing to say, but I honestly think if you are kind and go out of your way to be nice to people, good things will happen. You truly never know what someone is going through, so you should just be kind because maybe one day you will be the person who needs someone to be nice to you.
DiFiore: My biggest piece of advice is to get involved and make the most of everything LHS has to offer. Leave your mark in a positive way whether it’s through sports, clubs, or kindness, and always lift up and include the people around you.
