Lynbrook spirit was on full display during the annual club fair. The Club Fair was held on Sept. 19th and was open from period 10 until after school. Students and teachers created poster boards to attract attention to their clubs as students signed up for clubs they were interested in. “[The Club Fair is] a great way to teach people how high school really works,” said sophomore Victoria Coniglio, and it shows that students of all grades are welcome to join each club.
Clubs are a very important aspect of the LHS experience. They are an easy way to allow students to explore new interests and fields. For example, if a student wants to try to learn about a country’s culture, he/she could join the French Club. Clubs allow students to improve their interests, hobbies, or passions. They can help students develop skills, increase knowledge, or just have fun. Clubs also can provide valuable experience in a field for those service and leadership experience. Many new clubs have been welcomed to LHS. The Design to Deliver Club discusses and creates art projects that will be showcased in the main hallway. To spread kindness, students may want to join the new Crafts 4 Kids Club. The charities and organizations. The Girls in Strength Club supports young women through female empowerment and is a great way from them to support each other. The Club Fair lets students explore the world of clubs. Clubs are a core aspect of the LHS experience. who might wish to pursue them as careers in the future. Clubs provide opportunities to gain volunteer hours, meet experts in a field, participate in competitions, and even receive scholarships. Colleges prefer students who get involved in school activities. According to Coniglio, clubs are “a great way to meet new people.” Becoming friends with others who share one’s interests is one of the primary benefits of joining a club.
A lot of planning goes into the LHS Club Fair. After making deciding on the date, assistant principal Dr. Dempsey says she must talk “with all of the club advisors so that either they will be there or leaders of their clubs will be there”, so no club is left without representation. Coordinating with the custodial staff to set up in the planned location is an essential step to planning the Club Fair. All the extensive planning is necessary because the Club Fair “It gives all students the opportunity to learn what clubs are offered at the high school”, according to Dr. Dempsey.
There are a variety of clubs for students to choose from that were featured at the Club Fair. The Care 4 Cancer Club holds fundraisers to aid cancer patients, supports patients in their battles against cancer, and sends positive messages to cancer patients. For those excited about programming and technology, the Robotics Club offers experience in robotics-based competitions across Long Island and beyond. The Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA Club) offers business and leadership experience, which Coniglio said was amazing to “expand the world of sales.”

Anyone captivated by adventure and fantasy may consider joining the D&D Club, which is perfect for who “love playing the game”, according to freshmen Marcello Malcangi. Science clubs are also available at LHS. Sophomore Rafael Duran is “excited for the Science Olympiad because of the competition.” If any students need volunteer hours, the Leadership, Experience, Opportunity (LEO) Club offers opportunities for community service and leadership experience.
