The summer sun made my beige kitchen glow, especially the marble countertop, it was almost as if I was in some sort of heaven. I gazed out the kitchen window, anticipating the arrival of the two small individuals I had waited to see all week. Oh, how I imagined the little squeals and the dressed dolls that would sprint toward me. Just as I was running out of patience, I heard that familiar double-honk.
I had no hesitation in running to the door; I already knew who it was. I opened the door to see a yellow jeep parked across the street. I walked toward the vehicle but stopped myself in front of the green lawn, the little creatures needed some yards to run towards me. I knelt down with my hands wide open, ready to embrace the warm hugs from my two adorable cousins. The beautiful thing about the weather was that it was not too hot for me not to experience the wonderful sensation of small hands wrapping around me.
Once they stepped back, I had the honor of twirling them around as they modeled their floral dresses to me. The eight-year-old wore a pastel yellow adorned with flowers around the waist, and the four-year-old excitedly pointed to the butterflies on her lilac dress. The pure joy and excitement on their faces reminded me of when I was smaller; wearing dresses was my sport. I walked them inside, anxious for all the fun that awaited with them.
