Summer: the favorite season for many teenagers. Summer is a season filled with freedom, no school, and time to do what one desires. Many individuals enjoy going to the beach, watching sunsets, going to the movie theater, or catching up with friends. Despite the summer fun, picking an outfit to wear to an event is often a struggle.
Most teenagers opt for outfits that they are comfortable in. Freshman Shayla Benn enjoys wearing “tanks and shorts [because] they are [stylish]” and keep her from getting hot. Tank tops and shorts have been in style for several decades and continue to be a standard summer outfit today. This summer, fashionistas are sporting various styles of shorts. These include denim, athletic, and biker shorts. Freshman Maya Roditi remarked, “My personal favorite type of shorts are denim because they are cute for a night out and are comfortable.” Athletes typically wear athletic shorts and biker shorts since they are flexible and easy to move around in.
Tank tops are also a popular article of clothing as they are sleeveless, making them a favorite when the sun is shining. “A tank top is something I [often] wear in the summer because it gets extremely hot,” added Roditi. Popular stores that people are shopping at for tank tops this summer include Lululemon, Nike, and Zara.
Many teenagers have clear favorites when selecting brands for their summer wardrobe. Freshman Olivia Marafioti said, “The best brands to shop at for cute summer clothes are Aerie and American Eagle.” These sister brands are common among teenagers because they are simple yet fashionable and sell good-quality clothing. As for Roditi, she said,“My favorite clothing brands are Garage and Edikted.” Garage sells quality clothing that keeps up with trends.
When putting together an outfit, people often search for jewelry to match. In the summertime especially, necklaces and bracelets are staples. This summer, beaded bracelets are trending; these can be handmade. Making this type of jewelry can be a fun activity to do with friends. Additionally, gold necklaces are popular. Teenagers usually wear one to three necklaces, known as a “stack,” depending on whether they like layering or keeping their outfit classic. “Along with my outfit, I choose two necklaces,” explained Benn.
A few stores have risen to fame this summer for their jewelry. Benn shared, “My favorite jewelry stores to shop at are Kendra Scott and Evry Jewels.” Kendra Scott has the iconic pendant necklace that many people wear; it comes in various colors, shapes, and sizes. These necklaces are perfect for summer for their vibrant crystals and simplicity that match with just about any outfit.
After putting together an outfit, teenagers look for a perfume that has a summer fragrance. “I always use my Sol de Janeiro perfume in the summer,” commented Benn. Sol de Janeiro is a trending company with its eye-catching packaging and perfumes that smell like the tropical essence of summer.
As summer approaches, teenagers are shopping for clothes and searching for the latest fashion trends. When one is struggling to find an outfit, there are plenty of places to look for ideas. “When I can’t find anything to wear, I go on TikTok and Pinterest to find outfit inspiration,” suggested Marafioti.
