During Christmas Time in Lynbrook, there are several unique ways to celebrate within the community and generate cheer. Breakfast with Santa is one of the most cherished of these traditions. The annual event was held on Saturday, Dec. 9; both kids and adults were excited to come together to enjoy the magic of the holiday season.

Held at the Knights of Columbus, volunteers from Lynbrook’s Recreation Center worked hard to prepare for the event, adorning the hall with festive decorations. The first session was from 8:30 to 10:00 AM, and the second was from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Families with children of all ages enjoyed a warm breakfast while having the opportunity to participate in making crafts and decorating cookies. “I enjoyed making sugar cookie kits for all of the kids and seeing their excitement when writing letters to Santa,” freshman and volunteer Giovanna Cerino expressed. A magician was also present with eager children gathering around to watch the show. His interactive acts were enjoyed by many; the show even featured live bunnies.

Antonia Marchese, the supervisor of the Lynbrook Recreation Center, was thrilled to experience her first Breakfast with Santa. “The Breakfast with Santa event is so special for the Lynbrook community because it gives people a chance to come together with family and friends to celebrate the holiday season,” she explained. “I loved seeing all the families gathered, and I especially liked getting to see all my students have such a fun day.”

The most exciting part of the event was the grand entrance of Santa, whose holiday spirit filled the hearts of anxious children. “The pure joy on the kids’ faces and their excitement to sit and talk to him is unforgettable,” Marchese said. Children were encouraged by the “elves” to meet with Santa to discuss holiday wishes. “All of the kids were adorable, and meeting with Santa to tell them their wishes made them so happy,” volunteer Grace Dubas added. “It was overall a great event that was a pleasure to volunteer at,” said Dubas.

Breakfast with Santa has been occurring  and growing for years. Each year, more guests attend with cherished family members and friends as it is a joyful way to spend time with loved ones during the holiday season.
