Stranger Things recently released Volume One of its fifth season on Nov. 26. This new season is expected to have two more volumes, with two different release dates: Dec. 25 and Dec. 31. One confirmed detail of season five is the return of the full main cast. After multiple seasons with various filming locations, season five is expected to bring each character together in one setting, creating a sense of unity for both the cast and fans.
This season takes place with many characters still at Hawkins High School, exploring themes of growing up and finding one’s identity. Season five may be the most detailed season yet, answering questions fans may have had since the beginning. The producers, the Duffer Brothers, have suggested the use of extensive effects. Freshman Izzy Garcia explained, “The prosthetics they used for Vecna were amazing. The scenes involving Will were also breathtaking and hooking.” Freshman Ana Berrios agreed: “The CGI was amazing, and it was an upgrade from last season where there were some scenes in the Upside Down that looked very obviously green-screened.”
Besides filming effects, the variety of music sparks interest and excitement for viewers, from “Master of Puppets” by Metallica, to classics, like “Running up That Hill” by Kate Bush, and to “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash. Garcia continued, “The music was good. I loved the selection. It ties in well, especially with the eerie vibes.” Robin Buckley, played by Maya Hawke, once said, “Music can reach parts of the brain that words can’t. So maybe that’s the key, a lifeline. A lifeline back to reality.” Some viewers may feel especially connected to this line, or feel they can relate.
Regardless of one’s standing on Stranger Things, this final season is expected to stir emotions and create an unforgettable experience. Social studies teacher Olga Zisel expressed, “So far, Stranger Things season five did not disappoint. Things happened that I wasn’t expecting, so I enjoyed the twists and elements of surprise!”
