Excitement? It’s pretty much past us for now.

It’s crazy how in the span of a month,

you can go from lights and music and good food

to rain and darkness and the slow and steady beat of daily life.

Almost nothing special. Almost…

Quite literally a gift from above, so much brighter than the rest,

snow is a truly magical thing in such an ordinary time.

If there’s anything the past few years have taught me,

it’s that staying home isn’t all it’s cracked up to be,

so I’m indifferent to a snow day.

However, it’s still a special moment

watching the first snow touch down all around,

a white blanket and perfect segue from the holidays

to the ever-busy February and March.

But that’s just my take, I guess.
