Performance Friday: Megan Ryan
Megan Ryan, Grade 11:
I sang “Where Did the Rock Go?” from the Broadway show School of Rock. The song is sang by the principal who is having an internal conflict of missing her youth of being fun and free and loving rock music.
Q: How did you get started in music? Who are your greatest musical influences?
A: I got started in music when I was younger and joined the music program and Marion Street. I was in chorus, band, and orchestra. In high school, I am just in chorus, but I still love music.
Q: Do you aspire to do anything with music in your future?
A: As much as I love music, I do not think I will go into anything music related in the future.
Q: What is your favorite part about Performance Friday and/or performing in general?
A: I like performance Friday because it is always fun and interesting to see what everyone sings and how everyone improves each time with new and different songs.
Q: Do you get nervous to perform in front of people, specifically your peers? How do you quell your nerves?
A: I am always a little nervous about singing in front of people. What I find helpful is to just focus on the music and the lyrics.
Q: What do you love most about music? Has music helped you in any way through the pandemic?
A: I love music because it allows us to connect with so many people by conveying emotions and feelings that we all share.
