Is Spotify Really Better than Apple Music?
Music is a form of art that shows emotions and expressions through lyrics and song. People listen to countless different genres of music for many different activities; whether it be to party, to destress, or to workout, music is such a beautiful thing. There are several ways to stream music, but over the past few years, two apps remain at the top for most efficient and most popular. Apple Music and Spotify are two of the most common apps people will use to listen to music, podcasts, and more. Both Apple Music and Spotify have competition between each other, both with pros and cons of why you should stream using their platform.
Apple Music, first launched in 2015 by Apple Inc., was one of the very first digital streaming platforms that Apple users could use to access videos and music. With the ability to make playlists, search up any artist, and pick from any album you please, Apple Music has been very popular to this day.
Junior Maria Silvagni said, “I use Apple Music because there are no advertisements and there is a wide range of songs. I wouldn’t change from Apple Music to Spotify because I feel that Apple Music is much more convenient and easier to use.” With Apple Music gaining popularity alongside the Apple company, there is still an argument over which streaming platform remains at the top.
Spotify was first launched in 2006 by CEO Daniel Ek. The free app allows users to stream music, podcasts, videos, and more, but with the price of having to watch ads every few minutes. Spotify is another one of the biggest streaming platforms worldwide, as it allows users to listen and stream whatever they want. With the ability to make playlists, listen to podcasts, discover new artists, and even find others through the app, similarly to a social media platform, leaves an endless number of possibilities.
Junior Danielle Vito said, “I like the layout of Spotify better than Apple music. I also prefer Spotify because it is easy to use, and I like the feature that makes weekly playlists to fit just the type of music you like.” Even though Spotify is a free app, the opportunity to pay for Spotify Premium, for a small fee each month, draws in potential customers who are looking for an easy and convenient way to listen to music.
Junior Isabella Sferrazza said, “I upgraded to premium and that has been the best thing I’ve done. I love listening to music and podcasts that are recommended for me.” Senior Ambiya Hussain shared, “I will 100% choose Spotify over Apple Music any day. I upgraded to premium four years ago and have used the app nearly every day. In my opinion, Apple Music is a little hard to navigate.” Spotify users may say that Spotify is better and more accessible to use, but both have rightly gained the popularity that they deserve.
With valid points made for persuading which platform is the best, it is easy to say that both do an efficient job at streaming whatever the user pleases. Rightfully, the popular demand and usage of these programs increases. With the competition of other streaming platforms, Apple Music and Spotify are some of the top platforms used due to the great reviews and accessibility of these programs.
