Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson Split
After being together for just five months, Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have called it quits and ended their engagement. On Oct. 14, it was confirmed that the two were no longer together and have been spotted already separated, each taking it differently.
Back in May 2018, Davidson and Grande were just “casually dating.” But then, Davidson posted a picture of a cloud tattoo on his middle finger while Grande posted a photo with a cloud emoji caption. Not long after, Davidson was seen with two new tattoos focused around Grande, the first being her initials of AG, the second being the bunny ears from her album Dangerous Woman. Just a short while later, the two confirmed they were engaged, with a $93,000 custom-made engagement ring to prove it. Since then, the couple has been living together and Grande has gotten the word “pete” tattooed on herself. Grande also released the song “Pete Davidson” on her hit album Sweetener. But that all came crashing down just a short while ago.
Before dating Davidson, Grande was in a serious, two-year relationship with the rapper Mac Miller. Miller had struggled with substance abuse, which eventually caused Grande to break things off. It was reported that Grande found the relationship too emotionally straining. That same month, after just ending things with Miller, it was made official that Grande and Davidson were a couple. Just a few months later, on September 7, it was announced that Miller had overdosed and passed away. This announcement sent Grande into a whirlwind of anxiety, and is what is said to have put a strain on Grande and Davidson’s relationship.
Grande was supposed to perform in the A Very Wicked Halloween special a few days after her breakup with Davidson; she had posted on her Instagram story the day of the performance confirming that even though she was feeling a lot of anxiety, she would not let it stop her from performing. While performing, fans quickly noticed that she was no longer wearing her engagement ring, and she had covered her pete tattoo with a bandage, thus confirming the breakup. Davidson was then spotted with a heart covering up his bunny ears tattoo.
Since the breakup, Grande has been keeping a low profile for the most part. Davidson, however, recently spoke out about their breakup while co-hosting on the comedy show Jude & Pete for America. “Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?” he jokingly asked, referring to the fact that he would no longer be staying in Grande’s $16 million apartment in New York City.
It has been assumed that Davidson had taken the ring back, while Grande would be keeping their pet pig that they had adopted together, named Piggy Smallz. For now, fans will just have to wait and see where the two go from here.
