It is official: the time of year has come for all the coats, mittens, and boots to be packed away. Incoming is the spring season, and there are so many new styles to take note of this year.
Starting off strong, Hollister–one of the most popular stores that teenagers shop at–has come out with its new spring collections. Sophomore Camila Montano said, “I love Hollister’s new spring collection; it’s flowy, colorful, and floral.” During this time of year, many fashionistas agree that floral is in style. Whether it be “spring-themed” dresses or floral tops, Hollister is a great place to shop, as there are often good sales and trending items.
Other stylish stores to consider refreshing your closet with include Aritzia and Urban Outfitters. These stores are a strong choice when wondering where to shop, as they are popular among teenagers on social media and often keep up with what is in style. These stores have almost everything one could possibly need for a spring day: dresses, short-sleeved tops, skirts, and more. Alo Yoga is another popular store; the stylish athleisure company is regularly known for its matching sets. Junior Cameron Kirby noted, “I have seen a lot of Alo sets [at LHS]; they’re huge in our school.”
When it comes to matching your clothes to the weather outside, there are assortments of colors that are perfect for the spring season. “My favorite colors to wear for spring are blue and white,” shared Montano. In addition, yellow, pink, and blue pastels are typically implemented into everyday spring outfits. Sophomore Jack Boll commented, “Brighter colors and pastels are very much in. The color butter is a big one too.” These colors bring a sense of warmth into a style after a cold, gloomy winter filled with jackets and dark clothes.
For spring athletes, a popular fashion trend is wearing team merchandise on game days or even throughout the week. While this is not reserved for just spring sports, more teams have been participating in the tradition this season. Lacrosse and flag football are two of the popular sports for athletes to don their jerseys throughout the school day. Kirby shared, “I have been wearing [Lynbrook varsity lacrosse] merch all week.” While some students may never dare to be outfit repeaters, wearing team apparel certainly shows unity among these teams.
Furthermore, baggy jeans paired with over-ear headphones are a hot new look. This streetwear style is chic for the spring; it is a blended look for the in-between weather when the temperature is slightly warm but still too cool for shorts. Boll added, “I think the baggy jeans are very much in and cute. Some cute trends I’ve seen are the jeans paired with a shoe tied belt; long pants strings have been popular too.”
When stuck debating about what to wear to school or when going out this spring, keep one tip in mind: stay colorful. Spring is filled with bright and vibrant colors, so florals and pastels are a recommended go-to.
