After its successful run last year, LHS hosted its second annual Virtual Enterprise (VE) Trade Show this year, with 60 firms representing 38 schools from across Long Island and New York City in attendance. Taking place on Thursday, Mar. 27 and hosted in the LHS gymnasium, this year’s VE program consists of two companies, Snooze and Revive, who donned matching suits with a pop of pink through ties and headbands. VE students prepared for the trade show during the prior evening; members of the VE class rearranged the gym, and tables, chairs, and a large tarp were all set up for the following day.
The annual trade shows not only benefit the businesses and respective schools, but also prepare students for the real business world and provide VE students with long-lasting opportunities. “I feel as if trade shows prepare people for the real world, since it forces interactions, makes people learn and take interest, and pushes people out of their comfort zone,” junior Aidan Pearsall said.
The trade show kicked off shortly after the school day began and instantly became populated during lunch periods and gym classes. “Being able to help run it again this year was so much fun, and I really enjoyed talking to all the other firms,” senior Jessica Strohofer remarked. Each firm had its own booth, attracting students who were given a piece of paper representing a credit card upon entry. These students had a limited amount of money they could spend, purchasing anything that fit their budget from whichever firm they pleased. Some booths had interactive games, such as basketball, cornhole, and many had a prize wheel.
After a long day of selling, awards were announced and dispersed. Lynbrook’s two booths, Revive (established in 2023) and Snooze (LHS’s newest firm), proved to be successful. Revive won gold in sales material and billboard design. Snooze, which sells a variety of smart-sleep products, won gold in three different categories: social media, professionalism, and sales material.
After awards, the gym began to empty out as visiting students hopped on buses back to their schools, and Lynbrook VE students finished the day feeling accomplished and proud of all of their hard work. Senior and Snooze Chief Executive Officer Evie Dellacona remarked on how she felt after the day had ended: “I love being part of a team that’s dedicated and passionate about what we do. It feels great to showcase our efforts and achievements, and I hope to inspire others along the way.”
