College Virtual Enterprise (VE) is an elective course and international program that enables students to experience business simulations firsthand. Students must apply to enroll by submitting a resume and undergoing a rigorous interview process. Once in, students collaboratively create a business and face challenges similar to those in the real world.
Snooze is a first-year firm, created in September 2024 to make products that mitigate and dissolve sleeping difficulties. Led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Genevieve Dellacona with 41 members, they now rank Top 9 in New York State and are advancing to the final round of the National Finance Competition.
Dellacona expressed much pride and gratitude for the company and their big accomplishment: “Placing in the finalist competition is super big because it gets our name out there and recognized by other firms since we are a first-year firm. It’s been a lot of marketing and networking getting recognition for all our hard work which is really good.”
Despite facing obstacles at first, the company overcame them with ease. For Dellacona, one of her hardships was managing 41 people to achieve their goals. While a difficult learning experience, it proved to have great benefits, and she feels lucky to have made new connections.
Revive is a second-year company that works at the VE II class, which students founded in 2023 and continued their mission from prerequisite VE I. Contrary to Snooze, Revive has a small team of just nine members who have succeeded in creating heating and cooling clothing. Led by CEO Sydney Coble, she and her team have reached the final round of the National Business Plan Competition. Coble reflected on their journey: “Getting this far is such a great accomplishment in my eyes because I never thought in the beginning of the year with nine people in the company we could make it this far in the competition. We are also the first in Lynbrook ever to make it this far in the business plan. It is really motivating me to push my firm to the hardest that we can go so that we can be finalists.”
Both companies never fail to celebrate each other’s successes. While the firm’s businesses are not connected, the members still collaborate and work together. Snooze representatives, juniors Charlie Horton and Julia Palay, are proud of their success after starting up from scratch. Horton explained, “Revive advanced and now they’re going onto the city, and while Snooze didn’t, it’s still really exciting to see.” Palay added, “It’s great to see Lynbrook and our virtual enterprise classes get that far.” Coble reciprocated, “It is very helpful to have another company to work alongside.”
