As autumn approaches, many individuals search for a festive plan to adhere to, whether it be outdoors or from the comfort of their own home. Fall is one of the most exciting seasons, and there are many events to attend, both big and small.
There are several autumn activities locally. Regal Cinemas is showing multiple horror movies, including Smile 2 and The Nightmare Before Christmas, which are both fun and spooky to see with friends. Just down the block from Regal, 16 Handles is a delicious way to conclude the night, and the frozen yogurt chain just released its limited-edition fall flavor, “Oh My, Pumpkin Pie.”
Fall means football, so attending a varsity football game with friends or family and dressing up according to the theme is a classic way to get involved in the school community.
There are also many options to enjoy some fall festivities just a short drive away. In Riverhead, apple picking is popular, as it is an amusing and flavorsome activity. “One of my favorite fall activities is going to the local farmers market in the Long Beach Plaza,” sophomore Anabel Ramsey said.
Going to a haunted house is another sweater-weather classic. Although spooky, it is also thrilling, especially when with family or friends. There are many haunted houses in Long Island, some being in Oyster Bay, Montauk, and Fire Island.
For fun activities in the warmth and comfort of home, there are several options. You can begin by lighting your favorite fall candle. “The best fall candle [from Bath & Body Works] is Leaves,” Spanish teacher Danielle Leighley said. In addition to this one, Bath & Body Works sells a large variety of seasonal candles, such as Pumpkin Snickerdoodle, Pumpkin Apple, and Warm Apple Pie. Next, put on your coziest at-home attire, like sweatpants or pajamas. If you are in an artistic mood, buy a pumpkin at any local grocery store, and get to painting! This is a splendid activity to do with family or friends, or even on your own. Baking is a creative outlet to satiate the need for a sweet treat. “My all-time favorite homemade fall dishes are sweet potato pie and pumpkin spice coffee,” Ramsey added.
Crocheting is an amusing activity because it is both entertaining and stress relieving. Sophomore Lyla Gaffoor, an avid crocheter said, “When it is gloomy outside, I read books and crochet pumpkins and scarves.” Similarly, diamond art is relaxing. “I enjoy doing diamond art and creating fall themed collages,” sophomore Baili Georgoulas added.
Fall is a favorite season for many, as it is a time filled with fresh air, fun activities, and holidays. There are plenty of activities to do outdoors, locally, or at home.
