Key Club (KC) hosted its first DoubleGood Popcorn Fundraiser of the 2024-25 school year from September 25 to 29. “DoubleGood is a fundraising platform that utilizes various new, delicious, and innovative popcorn flavors such as Sergeant Salt and Pepper, Caramel-Diem, and White Cheddar Go Getter in order to fundraise,” senior and KC President Kate Santoli explained. “My favorite flavor is Caramel-Diem because it is so delicious. I highly suggest others to donate to a good cause and buy some of this caramel popcorn,” she added.
With DoubleGood’s vibrant and unique packaging and designs, and its motto, “Raising joy,” its product is eye-catching and inspires customers to make a purchase and help their community. Junior and KC Board Representative Sofia Michaelakos mentioned, “DoubleGood is [a product] that allows people to raise money for causes by selling popcorn. It was fun knowing that the [proceeds from the] popcorn I’m selling is going to a good cause.”
KC raised $45,218 with this sale, and all of the proceeds were split among the Joseph Cordes Scholarship Fund, the PGA Metropolitan Section Foundation, Mended Little Hearts, Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education (SCOPE), St. Christopher – Ottilie Family Services (SCO), The Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN), The Kiwanis Children’s Fund (KCF), The Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center, LI Coalition4theHomeless, Dr. B Scholarship Fund, and Lynbrook KC. LHS’s top sellers were siblings Arianna Lanzello, a freshman, and Damon Lanzello, a senior. The Lanzello siblings had $3,240 in sales. Junior Dani Zhanay had $1,861 in sales. Sisters Lily Cooper, a freshman, and Addison Cooper, a junior had $1,845 in sales.
Santoli explained, “We have this fundraiser twice a year, once in February and once around the end of September, and [it is] one of our most successful fundraisers each year. Senior and Treasurer Damon Lanzello shared, “It feels amazing to have gotten to help so many people through selling popcorn. After selling popcorn for the past four years, it felt great to finally get to do it with my freshman sister Arianna.”
In order to promote the fundraiser, Key Clubbers repost @lhskeyclubb’s Instagram story on its social media accounts. The club also shares the link to family members, friends, and neighbors in order to spread awareness and promote popcorn sales. Ultimately, the fundraiser is a fan favorite that the Lynbrook community looks forward to each year.
