Focus on Fashion

The first trend comes from the color of fall 2017: POWER RED. This is a statement color within itself and should be used as a pop of color for your outfit. This bold, powerful color should be used as an accent not a base. A couple ways to style this eye-popping color are:

– A red undershirt with a denim jacket over it and black ripped jeans is a perfect way to style a casual, chic outfit for a cloudy fall day

– Throwing on a power red bomber to a basic black and white look can elevate the look without overwhelming it. To finish off this look it is suggested using a power red lip color to accent the bomber. This outfit would be perfect for a night with friends to a family dinner.

Even if the color isn’t for you, stay with the trend; adding a power red lip to ANY outfit can keep you in the trend.

Do you want to make a statement? Do you want to feel confident and fierce? Then there is one answer and one answer only: fringe. Yes, those flirty, fun strips of fabric are in this season. As you strut through life, let those flowy straps trail behind and keep you on trend. A couple ways to style this cute, whimsical look are:

-Add fringe to the bottom of any cropped, boyfriend jeans to give you a cute ’70s vibe. Style this look with an oversized ‘70s plaid shirt and a pair of low-top shoes. Accessorize this look with layered necklaces and a messy bun.

-Leather jackets are a fall necessity, so why not add fringe? Adding fringe to the back of a black leather jackets gives you a runway-ready look. Add a pair of skinny jeans and a solid color shirt underneath. Throw on a pair of black leather booties and possibly a clutch for a city dinner.

Chelsea boots made their big entrance on last year’s runway, but they continue to strut down the runway in the current season. These comfy boots keep you warm during the colder days and go with nearly everything. I suggest buying a lighter color boot such as tan or grey to help lighten up your outfit and keep fall fresh and fun. The boot really has endless styles, but here are a couple ideas:

-A dark wash skinny jean and ANY top would go perfectly with these fashion forward boots. I would pair a warm cardigan with this look to keep a comfy feel throughout the entire look.

-Throw on a pair of Chelsea boots with a loose-fit halter sweater dress for a more dressy look. Accessorize this outfit with cross-body bag and gold or rose gold jewelry.

The next new trend of the fall is not so new. It incorporates everyone’s fall go-to-flannels and puts ‘70s vibe into them. This old form of plaid was featured on every runway this fall from Stella McCartney to Prada to Tory Burch. What classifies as ‘70s plaid? It uses smaller, more fine lines within the paid making larger boxes. Also the color! ‘70s plaid comes mainly in yellows, tans, browns, taupes, and occasionally a pop of color. A couple ways to style this look are:

– As seen on to Stella McCartney’s runway, you can style with a fine lined midi dress with a denim jacket drape. This look is a show stopper for any occasion.

-A more casual look could be pairing a ’70s plaid crop with a pair of light wash high-waisted denim jeans and black bomber jacket.

Finally, here are some fashion tips and tricks to elevate all your fall looks. The fashion police might just come after you if you ignore these quick tips.

-Cuff the bottom of your jeans to give a clean, chic accent to your outfit. If you are going to wear a pair of combat boots or high boots, make sure to cuff or not tuck in your pants!

-Accessories are complements to an outfit that should not be overused. Under NO circumstances should you be wearing rings on every finger, bracelets up and down both arms, flashy earrings and a huge, clunky necklace. Please do not abuse the power of an accessory; it only makes it painful for everyone looking at the outfit.

-Hair style is important. Changing your high pony to a messy bun adds an imperfect, yet crucial part to complete an outfit. Change it up; be different.
